Now you just need a little help to get you on your way to the body of your dreams. Don’t worry, we have your back. Being a beginner can be hard, especially if you don’t necessarily know what you are doing. But that’s okay, we are here to help you in any way we can. We have the inside scoop on how to get where you want to be, check out these 7 conditioning tips for beginners.

1. Prepare Yourself
Start this process like you would anything else, do a little research. Think of some goals you would like to achieve, and write them down! Writing down your goals is shown to be more effective than just saying them to yourself. Learn how to breathe properly and stay focused. Breathing is a big part of working out and it is important that you do what you feel comfortable doing. Don’t go crazy, start off slow and steady. There is no harm in letting your body get used to these basic functions for a while. Most importantly, always ask for help when you need it. We are here to help create a better you, so don’t hesitate to ask questions.

2. Stick to a Schedule
Start from the beginning. Figure out the days and times that work with your schedule, and try to stick to it as close as possible. Maintaining a schedule will get your body and mind in sync with each other. Sticking to a routine while in the gym will make it easier for you. It will also help you plan out a frequent time you usually stay between. A good common beginner routine goes as followed:

  • Stretch
  • Warm up with light cardio
    • Treadmill
    • Elliptical
  • Workout one specific area
    • Abs
    • Arms
    • Legs
  • Cool down with light cardio
    • Treadmill
    • Elliptical

3. Make Changes Gradually and Over Time
As you continue to work out, try some new things. Lift a little heavier, workout longer, try something new. A good way to figure out when it is time for you to upgrade your workout is trying something that is hard for you. If there is a certain machine or workout that is very hard for you to do, wait a couple weeks and try again. If it is easier for you to do now, you might want to up your workout routine a little bit. It is important to only change one thing at a time. Do not go from a beginner’s workout to an extreme one, take your time and trust your body.

4. Do What You Hate
Chances are if you do not like a certain workout or machine, it is because it is hard for you. As an example, if you don’t like using machines that strengthen your arms, it is probably because it is hard for you to do it. Don’t give up! If it is hard, keep doing it. It will only make you stronger. If you do not enjoy cardio, try to do a little more. Give your body time to adjust to these exercises that seem hard. This process does not happen in a day, a week, or even a month. Give yourself time to adjust to become a better you.

5. Grab a Friend
Sometimes workout out alone can be nerve racking. So bring someone with you! If you have a friend that is already in the habit of working out, or has in the past, workout together. Having constant motivation from a friend can increase your activity. You can even bring your significant other. Start this new journey together. Another option is to get a personal trainer, they will listen to what you want and help you reach your goals!
